Named after Southern Methodist University’s three-time All American running back, the Doak Walker Award requires that candidates remain in good academic standing and be on schedule to graduate within a year of students in the same class. A 5-foot-9, 185-pound senior from Charlotte, North Carolina, Duke’s Shaun Wilson has earned his first ever nomination for the award after appearing in 36 career games and rushing 313 times for 1,645 yards. He has scored 12 touchdowns and caught 45 passes for a total of 462 yards. In his 401 career touches, he has recorded only six fumbles.
The watch list will be narrowed down to 10 candidates and then to three finalists, and the winner of the Doak Walker Award will be announced on December 7 during the Home Depot College Football Awards on ESPN.
